My poem for D

I have been very moved by messages I have received from friends and family to my poem, ‘There is no monopoly of grief.’  Here are a few:

‘A beautiful poem – you’ve made me cry now. How wonderful to have loved so much and to have been loved so well.’  Maggie.

‘The poem is beautiful, deeply moving. I wanted to cry.’ Christine.

‘It is a beautiful poem, written to a special person in your life. Thank your for sharing it.’ Lucas.

‘I find myself reading, and re-reading, your beautiful poem, as I have so often done in the past few days.’  Eleri.

‘Thank you so much for your very, very beautiful poem.’ Rodney.

‘Have just managed to open your poem.  It is beautiful.  D will love it.
We occasionally manage to visit our son, Hywel’s, grave and are surprised at flowers and care taken over it.  It sometimes feels that someone knows we can’t always be there and that they are watching over our baby son for us.’ Jan.

Imogen .

‘Oh, Roger, how immensely moving. Thank you for letting me read it.’ Marcelle.

‘Very beautiful…. I wish I could wave a magic wand to help u in your grief. I wish I could say I know how u feel – but I can’t.  I have never lost anyone that I loved so intensely before (so I don’t know how it feels). In fact I don’t how how it feels to love someone so intensely – as I’ve never really experienced that either….. And probably because of that – is why I don’t experience jealousy. I guess one can’t feel that extreme emotion when they’ve never felt intense love…..’ Jackie.

‘Your poem is beautiful; your words brought tears to my eyes.’ Dee.

‘I have been deeply moved by the poem to D which I see you wrote on my birthday yesterday, in fact I have to say I have been sobbing, it pulled me up with a start as it so reminded me of how I am feeling about Paul at the moment.’ Ann.

Julia
